How It Works
Commissioning a piece of bespoke furniture may seem daunting. At Distinctive Furniture Design we work to make the process seamless and engaging.
The result will be a beautiful piece of custom furniture that is both functional and unique. A talking piece.
How this comes about is through a collaborative process with Helen, the maker, and you to understand the intent, the function, final design and the construction approach.
The stages to achieve this are outlined here.
Stage One - Initial Discussion
Once you have got in touch (email, text, phone or other) we will organise an initial discussion with Helen, either face to face or electronically, to work through what you would like made.
Through the discussion we will touch on your ideas and functional needs, along with general understanding of timeframes and budget.
Stage Two - Concept Design and Timber Selection
From the initial discussion Helen will develop a concept design and recommended timber selection. If feasible, as part of this process, a visit to the location for the furniture item may be agreed. This assists with understanding the setting, style and impact being sought.
Stage Three - Final Design and Quote
From the concept design the final design and timber selection is developed in collaboration with you. From here a final quote with a timeframe for construction is provided.
Stage Four - Construction
Upon acceptance of the quote and a 25% deposit paid, construction begins. Regular updates and photos are sent during construction. You are also welcome to visit the workshop to view progress.
You will be advised when the item is completed so you are able to organise pick up or delivery.
